FAQ | Frequently Ask Questions

Q Do I need to be able to read Russian to take your course?

A

No. Everything in the course is written both in Cyrillic and sounded out with English letters. But learning to read Russian with our system is easy! Go through our 'Russian Alphabet Mastery' course (free under the Read Russian section of our site) and you'll be reading Cyrillic in just a few hours.

Q I finished your Russian Made Easy podcast. Does Russian Accelerator cover the same things?

A

No. Russian Accelerator is a much larger course. Mark's RME podcast is something of a primer for R.A. It covers all six grammatical cases and all basic verb conjugations, but the vocabulary was quite small—only 250 words. In comparison, R.A. teaches over 2000 words and phrases, using the same techniques used in RME. True, the first few lessons might feel like review, but by Unit 3 you'll be into new territory.

Q How in depth is the course? What exactly do you cover?

A

Russian Accelerator is designed to turn you into a confident, conversational speaker of intermediate Russian. One goal of the course is for you to be able to tell your own story in Russian. Who you are, where you live and work, who your friends and family are, what your likes and dislikes are, where have you been and where are you going. A second goal of Russian Accelerator is to give you the most practical phrases needed for independent travel in Russia. Topics include: Asking directions, ordering food, learning about Russian transportation, renting an apartment, getting a cab, as well as tactics for managing conversations with native Russian speakers.

Q Do you teach Russian grammar?

A

Absolutely! With R.A, you'll learn grammar the same way you learned as a toddler, through a process known as pattern recognition. Instead of memorizing the hundreds of complicated rules associated with Russian grammar, you'll discover the patterns of how Russian words change. It's a highly efficient and completely painless way to master Russian grammar.

Q How much time should I commit to studying your course?

A

It's recommended you put aside approximately 30 minutes per day to study the material. Members, though, have lifetime access to the material, so you can go at your own speed.

Q How long does it take to finish the course?

A

There are 90 lessons in all, and each takes approximately 30 minutes to go through. If you follow our recommendations and study a new lesson every other day, (reviewing on your off days), then you should be able to complete the course in about six months. But everyone is different. A few have finished the course in four months, and many more have taken over a year. Again, you will always have access to the course, so you can go at your own speed.

Q Can I access with a mobile device?

A

Yes, most phones and tablets are supported although the videos will be very small on a phone, so study via a larger screen device is recommended.

Q What if I have problems? Is there customer support?

A

We take pride in our customer support. All questions are answered within 24 hrs, and most are handled much faster than that.

Q How do I contact you if there's a problem?

A

Please navigate to the Contact Page in the main menu.

Q Is this program appropriate for children?

A

We do not recommend Russian Accelerator for kids under 12. Though the material is all G rated, many references in the course will be lost on children. Furthermore, conversations are aimed more for adults. If you have child looking to learn Russian, please ask us for recommendations on other courses.

Q How do I access the course material?

A

After payment, you will be directed to a page where you can register your username and password. After that, you will be redirected to the members area where all of the course material is located.

Q What are the payment options, guarantees, costs. etc?

A

All information regarding cost, payments, guarantees, and exactly what you get, are located here.
